You will compute and record both basic book and tax depreciation and come away with a deep understanding of the world of the professional bookkeeper. Included in this valuable certificate program is QuickBooks training. Culinary Apprenticeship Certificate

The Culinary Apprenticeship Certificate is an intense program designed for aspiring culinary professionals with a passion for food who want something better than the traditional classroom-based culinary education program. Students work hands-on in the kitchen with a team of accomplished professional chefs who will provide the tools needed to succeed in the restaurant, hospitality and catering industries. Apprenticeship venues include fine dining restaurants, top tier hotels and high-end caterers. Approximately 15 hours a week will be scheduled in addition to classroom time.

Course fee includes classroom instruction, textbook, workbook, apprenticeship placement, and chef coat. Additional costs for students include chef pants, slip-resistant shoes, and knife set. You will receive more information about these additional costs upon acceptance into the program.

Students are required to complete an admissions process which includes a background check, waiver of liability and proof of health insurance. High school diploma or equivalency. Unlike bootcamp courses, this course will teach you the essentials of Information Systems Security while preparing you to take the CISSP exam once all other exam qualifications have been met. Textbooks are required at the first class meeting and are available at the KSU Center Bookstore.

Prerequisites: Understanding of Operating Systems and Encryption. Familiarization with TCP/IP, security concepts, and system administration experience is also helpful.

Students will learn how to secure information systems by learning the fundamentals of the Information Systems Security environment and processes. Students will become familiar with the ten domains of the CISSP CBK and prepare for the CISSP certification exam.

Web Design Certificate

The new Web Design Certificate program is set up to teach you the four D's of Web Design: Discovery, Design, Development and Deployment.

Module 1 - Discovery: This module will expose the students to design principles, usability, the Web development process, and file basics. This module lays the foundation for the entire course.

Module 2 - Design: The successful student is expected in this module to begin to apply the design principles learned in Module 1 to Web page layout. The successful student accomplishes this through a demonstrated ability to code in HTML and CSS.

Module 3 - Development: Though HTML and CSS provide the foundation for much of the Web, modern websites interactively engage visitors. In this module, the successful student uses JavaScript and Flash to provide such interactivity.

Module 4 - Deployment: Design can capture visitors' attention, but the Web currently hosts millions of sites. Thus, successful Web designers must also be adept with industry tools and practices such as search engine optimization and Web analytics to drive traffic to their sites.

Pre-requisites: Complete Skills Assessment and submit Program Application. Working knowledge of computers, especially Windows, and access to computer and Internet are required. Must have access to Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium for homework.
