The Paralegal Program

The United States Department of Labor has rated the paralegal professional one of the fastest growing professions in the nation.

Our Paralegal Certificate Program adheres to the highest professional curriculum and prepares you to work in law offices, banks, government agencies, corporations and real estate firms. All course are Georgia Law. The program consists of 13 courses. The fee for each course is $229. You pay as you go with the total program cost being $2977. Some courses require books, some do not. Your total book cost for the 13 courses is approximately $1100. Each course meets for three hours one night per week for six weeks. You arrange your own schedule. You can take one to four courses per six week session. The 13 courses must be completed in 36 months. Take two courses each session and graduate in approximately twelve months.

Each course is taught in a classroom setting allowing for interaction with the instructor and other students. Students receive hands on research experience at the Cobb County Law Library, tour the Cobb County Court House, visit a courtroom, do a title search in Cobb County and enjoy enlightening and entertaining guest speakers.

Law firms call us regularly with job and internship openings. We email the information to current students and recent graduates. Qualified applicants contact the employers directly. Email paralegal@kennesaw.edu to be added to the list once you begin the Paralegal Certificate Program. The postings are for classroom students only as the positions are for Georgia Law trained paralegals and students

Acceptance Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic computer & internet skills
Program Requirements
  • The program consists of 13 required courses. Please see the Classes tab for a listing of courses.
  • You progress at your own pace. You can take one to four courses each session. We recommend that you take two courses per quarter, which would allow you to complete the program in approximately 12 months.
Certificate Requirements
  • 80% attendance required (one absence per course)
  • Minimum grade of 70% in each course
Technology Requirements

You will need computer access (PC, not MAC) outside of your work and lab/classroom as you will be required to download software. Application Requirements

To get started on your Paralegal career, complete the Skills Assessment and application.

Follow these directions and complete the Skills Assessment. You will be directed to the Application from the Skills Assessment.

Books

Textbooks are required for most courses. Check the individual course descriptions for book titles. Books may be purchased at the KSU Center bookstore. For information about the pricing of books, check the University Bookstore website.

Certificate of Completion

Upon successful completion of all 13 courses, students may request their certificate. Students are invited to attend graduation in June or December.

Information Sessions

Sessions are held at the KSU Center in January and July. This is a time to learn about the program, meet the instructors and view the textbooks. There is no cost for this information session.

Costs are $229 per course, or $2977 total plus books. The total book cost is approximately $1100.

Students must do their own work. Cheating is not permitted and will result in dismissal without a refund.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required to enter the program. Basic computer and Internet skills are also necessary. No SAT/ACT required.
Classes begin in January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August and October. You may start your program at any time classes begin.

Books are required for most courses and are available at the KSU Center bookstore. Individual book prices vary. Books range from $30 to $212, average cost is $90. Check the individual course descriptions for book titles and the bookstore website for pricing.
You may complete the program at your own pace. We recommend that you take two courses per quarter, which will allow you to complete the program in approximately 12 months. You must complete all 13 courses within 3 years to obtain your Paralegal Certificate.
We offer internships and job postings via email to our Georgia Law trained classroom students and recent graduates. You contact the employers directly. 50% of our students secure positions from these postings.
The Georgia Law Paralegal Certificate program is not offered online. The classes are taught live by attorneys at the KSU Center to allow full discussion and understanding of the courses. The Legal Reasearch and Writing courses are held at the Cobb County Law Library giving you hands on experience in this very important area.
