Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Application Process

Program Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalency.  Complete Skills Assessment and Submit Program Application.  Working knowledge of computers and access to computer and Internet are required.  Additional course requirements: Pass a national online background check and drug test.  Cost not included in program fee.

Upon satisfactory completion of the Skills Assessment and Program Application, you may proceed to register for the program.

Immunizations
You are required to have a TB Skin Test and complete the following forms.  All paperwork, including application, background check, waiver, and immunization forms MUST be turned in 1 week prior to program start date.

What certification exam will I be eligible to take upon successful completion of this program?
Upon successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate program, you will be eligible to sit for the Georgia State Certification Exam conducted by the Nurse Aid Competency Evaluation Services (NACES).   Visit the testing organization’s website for the most current information about the certification exam and eligibility requirements. 

Does the College of Continuing and Professional Education provide job placement?
The College does not provide job placement or career counseling for students.  Due to the reputation of our healthcare programs, area employers periodically contact us with job opportunities.  We notify recent program graduates via email with any job postings related to their field of study.

What financial aid options are available for this program?
The College of Continuing and Professional Education offers our students a number of financial aid options, including Continuing Education Loans, Employer Education Vouchers, Military Education Benefits (GI Bill, VA, and TA), MyCAA, and Workforce Investment Act (WIA).  Please visit our website to learn more about these options.  Since the College of Continuing and Professional Education does not offer credit courses, we are unable to process traditional forms of financial aid such as Hope Grant/Scholarship, Pell Grant, and Stafford Loan, nor do we require you to complete the FAFSA. 

What are the state requirements for this program?
The state of Georgia currently requires licensing for Certified Nursing Assistants and The Georgia Nurse Aide Program (NAP) identifies nurse aides who have successfully completed training and competency evaluation requirements.  Not only does a national certification give you the ability to earn a credential, but it also demonstrates a commitment to your profession.

What can a graduate of this program expect to earn?
The College does not guarantee employment or salary expectations upon graduation from a program.  As of November 2011, Salary.com estimated the wage for an experienced nursing assistant position in Georgia to begin at $21,909 (annual). 

What additional books or supplies may be needed for this program?

All textbooks required for this program are available at the KSU Center Bookstore.  The hours are Monday - Thursday, 4:00 – 8:00pm and Saturday, 8:30 – 11:30am.  Please call the KSU Center Bookstore for textbook availability at (678) 797-2342.  The following supplies are required for this program: Stethoscope, BP Kit, and Blue Scrubs.  More information about what and where to purchase the equipment will be discussed during the first class session.
